File Hash / Checksum
Your files never leave your device — hashing runs entirely in your browser.

What this tool does
Computes SHA-256, SHA-1, SHA-384 or SHA-512 checksums of any file, using your browser's built-in cryptography. Paste the checksum a download page published and get a clear verdict: the file is byte-for-byte what the publisher signed off, or it isn't — which catches corrupted downloads and tampered files alike. The checksums.txt download uses the standard sha256sum format, so sha256sum -c works with it directly.
Why local matters here
The file you are verifying is often an installer, a backup or a document you would not hand to a random website. Here there is nothing to hand over: the page is static, the digest is computed by your own browser, and everything keeps working with the network disconnected — verified by our automated tests on every release.
