What this tool does

Shows you the title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer and dates a PDF carries, and lets you change them, clear them, or strip the lot. Choosing a file only reads it — nothing is written until you save. Emptying a box removes that field outright rather than leaving it blank.

A PDF can store its metadata twice

Besides the fields above, a PDF may carry an XMP packet, and newer readers prefer it. Rewriting XMP is not something this tool can do — so if your file has one, we ask you to choose: remove the packet, and your fields become the only metadata the file has; or keep it, and accept that some readers will still show the old values. Most tools edit the fields, say “done”, and let you find out later. We would rather ask one question than report a success that is not true.

What we do not add

Nothing. Unlike our other PDF tools, this one stamps no “produced by OneFn” signature and no timestamp of its own — here the metadata is what you came to control, and signing your file would undo the thing you just asked for. Worth knowing: many PDF tools, ours included until we caught it, quietly write a creation date taken from your computer's clock into files that had none. This one writes only what you ask for.
