What this tool does
Takes margins off each edge — in points, millimetres, inches or a percentage — for every page or a range. The margins are measured off what you actually see: on a page your reader shows sideways, “top” is the top on screen, and on a page that was already cropped the measurement starts from the visible edge. If a margin would leave nothing of some page, the whole request is refused, naming that page — rather than handing you back a document with one dead sheet in it.
Cropping hides. It does not delete.
This is the thing worth knowing before you crop anything sensitive. A crop sets the page's crop box — the window your reader draws — and everything outside that window is still in the file. Resetting the box puts it back. So cropping a name, a letterhead or a salary out of a page does not remove it: anyone who opens the file with the right tool can read it.
We do not just assert that. One of our tests crops a page with text at the top, then decompresses the output and finds the drawing instructions identical to the input's — the text still drawn where it was, just outside the window. That is why this page says “hidden” and never “removed”. Actually deleting the content means rewriting the page's instructions, which this tool does not do — so it does not claim to. As always, the page is static and keeps working offline, verified by our automated tests on every release.
